USAID’s Civic Engagement Project and Metamorphosis Foundation are happy to announce that the Strategic Support Grants under RfA # CEP-SSG-01 have been awarded to six organizations:

  • Association for Emancipation, Solidarity and Equality of women- ESE;
  • Association Forum Center for Strategic Research and Documentation;
  • Association for Education MLADIINFO INTERNATIONAL;
  • Public- association for research, communications and development
  • REACTOR – Research in Action;
  • Coalition of youth organizations SEGA.

We wish them good luck in their endeavors while implementing their project activities in the next two to three years.

Below are short summaries of the projects they will be implementing in the next three years.

 

Association for Emancipation, Solidarity and Equality of women- ESE Project Name: Paths to justice for women victims of domestic violence 
Duration: 24 months
Beneficiaries: Women victims of domestic violence; providers of justice and policy makers.
Purpose and Objectives: The project aims to enhance access to justice for women victims of domestic violence. It will employ four complementary approaches: (1) court monitoring; (2) provision of specialized help and support for the victims of domestic violence; (3) in–depth analyses of the deficiencies detected and (4) taking the appropriate advocacy actions in order to accelerate substantial legal reforms.
Association Forum Center for Strategic Research and Documentation Project Name: Active Citizens for Good Governance
Duration: 36 months
Beneficiaries:  Youth, representatives of educational institutions, CSOs, marginalized communities, media, municipal administrations.
Purpose and Objectives: The project aims to train citizens to become relevant and equipped watch-dogs within their communities. It aspires to stimulate mainly young people to be interested and active stakeholders. The project will educate people how to conduct their own initiatives and actions concerning local issues and to stimulate creation of local networks in the municipalities, where people will continue to transmit the acquired knowledge. Local CSO’s will be encouraged to communicate with people within their communities, primarily to recruit trainees for the training provided with the project.
Association for Education MLADIINFO INTERNATIONAL Project Name: Youth Banks Network Macedonia
Duration: 24 months
Beneficiaries: Youth
Purpose and Objectives: The project aims to promote an enabling legal, policy and business environment for youth employment through the model of Youth Banks in Macedonia (YB). It aspires to set up an active and recognizable network for support of youth employment by building the capacities of the YB network and by providing legal and policy support service for municipalities and CSOs for the establishment of a business enabling environment.
Public- association for research, communications and development Project Name:  SEs connecting the dots: economic growth, community development and social inclusion
Duration: 36 months
Beneficiaries: Homeless people, people with disabilities, single parents, Roma, long-term unemployed, unqualified people, people that live with addictions.
Purpose and Objectives: The project aims to steer up the environment for the development of the social economy in Macedonia through creation and support of social enterprises, which hold close ties with their communities. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of social enterprises (SEs) and non-profit organizations to create substantive jobs for marginalized groups. In the meantime it will also aim to influence the legal framework in creating policies that support the needs of SEs and the employability of marginalized groups.
REACTOR – Research in Action Project Name: Mobilizing for Gender Equality
Duration: 36 months
Beneficiaries: Women, CSOs working on gender equality, officials from municipalities
Purpose and Objectives: The project aims to advance gender equality by (1) mobilizing public support around policy solutions for improving public services; strengthening the capacities of (2) the Gender Equality Platform and (3) the local municipalities to mainstream gender equality and better serve their female constituents.
Coalition of Youth Organizations SEGA Project Name: Strengthening Youth Engagement in Local Communities 
Duration: 36 months
Beneficiaries: Youth, youth CSOs
Purpose and Objectives: The project aims to increase youth CSO influence towards citizen participation in local and national decision making. This will contribute toward improving the overall status and wellbeing of young people across the country. The project goal will be accomplished through achieving the following specific objectives: 1) Developed and applied innovative tool for detecting youth needs, focused on civic participation; 2) Increased knowledge and skills of youth CSOs to address actual needs of young people; 3) Improved understanding of youth participation in the local community.
