The training on the topic “Accession to the European Union” was held on October 29-31, 2014 at the Drim hotel in Struga. The training was attended by grantees of the project “Good Governance Action Network”.

The aim of the training was to enhance the knowledge of representatives of civil society organizations regarding the accession of the Republic of Macedonia to the European Union; increase the capacity of civil society organizations for effective use of the available European funds and increase the capacity of civil society organizations to act effectively in the area of democracy and good governance.

During the three-day training, Aleksandar Kolekeski and Bojan Maricic from MCET (Macedonian Center for European Training) shared their knowledge in this specific area, discussing about several topics. Some of the topics they covered (with participants having an opportunity to participate in the discussion and practical exercises) were: review of the EU institutions and the decision making process; Europe 2020 and essential initiatives; Community programs – short overview of the results and problems, and on the third day they focused on the EU programs – Europe for the citizens and Creative Europe, and on the use of e-tools and search engines for preparing applications.

The training is part of the series of trainings to be conducted in the upcoming period, within the framework of the “Good Governance Action Network” project, implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation in partnership with MCET and Reactor – Research in Action, with financial support from the European Commission through the IPA CIVIL SOCIETY FACILITY (CSF) 2012-2013 program
