Representatives of the Rural Development Network attended the one-day training on Open Data in the premises of the Metamorphosis Foundation. They had an opportunity to learn more about the basics of open data, and the online tools for data visualization.

The training was held as a preparation for the implementation of the project proposal of the RDN – “Real development of the rural areas and agriculture”, which won at the Call for proposals for open data projects announced by the Metamorphosis Foundation.

RDN will collect data from the National program – direct payments in agriculture and the IPA-IPARD projects in Macedonia, which will then be sorted, analyzed and published on their website.

Aside from the Rural Development Network, the project proposal of “ICT for changes” was also selected for implementation. ICT for changes will work on a project called “Data journalism – research system based on public procurement in the Republic of Macedonia”. They proposed to collect data from the electronic procurement system, which is publicly available, to be organized and presented in a way that will be useful for journalists in Macedonia.

Another project proposal selected for support and implementation was the project proposal of the ZIP Institute from Skopje. The ZIP Institute intends to create a web application called “Rate.me – System for reporting on the services of catering facilities.” The purpose is to collect the positive and negative practices of catering facilities in Macedonia, where food and drinks are served. They need data on the issued permits for catering facilities, the categories to which they belong, such as nightclubs, bars, discos, etc. They also want to include data for the penalties for catering facilities and the incidents that occurred at these places, including violations of the legal norms.
