Publication: Recommendations for ICT standards in the state administration

The publication “Recommendations for ICT standards in the state administration” was publicly presented at the Third international conference “e-Society.Mk”, held on the 29th and 30th of November, 2007, in Skopje. Several technical and information standards were presented to the domestic and international public along with the recommended policies for achieving interoperability in the work of the state administration in Macedonia.

Two new publications released

This month, two editions were published within the frames the project “Information Security Initiative”. One of them is the fourth edition of the ICT Guide with the topic "Information security and why should we protect ourselves". You can view or download the guide here.The second publication is the book Guidelines on Information Security by a group of authors. The book is also available in electronic form and you can read it here.

Macedonia: 88% of Candidates for Civil Servants Apply Online, Survey Reveals

During May and June 2007 Metamorphosis Foundation conducted a survey regarding the website Apply On-Line of the Agency for Civil Servants of Republic of Macedonia. Research goals included getting to know the opinions and the experiences of the candidates about the application that enables applying for the open positions in the public administration via the internet.

Macedonian Versions of Creative Commons Licenses Presented

Mr. Joi, president of Creative Commons, promoted Macedonian versions of global licenses that enable spreading the free culture around the world, in Skopje on June 19, 2007. By adapting the licenses to the domestic legal system, Macedonia became 38th member-country in the Creative Commons family

Starting from this month, the Macedonian translation of the book “OpenOffice.org – Users manual” published by the Metamorphosis Foundation is available in the local  bookstores in Skopje.

Metamorphosis e-Bilten #2 Published

On October 17, 2006 Metamorphosis e-Bilten #2 was published. Apart from the standard ICT news from Macedonia and the world and news about the activities of the Metamorphosis Foundation, there are two articles, one for eRiders and one for converting documents in standard fonts with Macedonian language support. Metamorphosis e-Bilten #1 was distributed to 238 e-mail addresses and we have received positive reactions on our e-mail address. These are some of them:

Catalogue of Local Government Electronic Services

Within the framework of the e-Local Government Project, organized and supported by the USAID’s project Make Decentralization Work and Metamorphosis – foundation for sustainable ICT solutions, a research was conducted in 10 municipalities in Macedonia. The objective of this research was to find out the opinions of the citizens on which municipal services should be first made available electronically.
