As part of its activities, and as a contribution to the creation of a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence that respects human rights and dignity, the Metamorphosis Foundation, with the help of experts, prepared a “Research on the Impact of New Technologies, With a Particular Focus on Artificial Intelligence, on Human Rights Online, and the Development of Ethical Standards for Protecting Human Rights on the Internet in the Context of Automated Decision-Making,” which, among other things, proposes minimum ethical standards for the protection of human rights in automated decision-making.

Today, the Metamorphosis Foundation met with representatives of the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development as leaders of the working group for the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, where they introduced the attendees to the research and ethical standards.

The meeting emphasized that although the development of artificial intelligence has led to a global transformative digital advance that is increasingly impacting our daily lives, work, family, health, socializing, privacy, and has the potential to improve many aspects of the human experience, due to the danger of its unethical design and use, it is extremely important to establish regulations and rules for its use that take into account human rights and guarantee equal protection for all.

What is extremely important in regulating artificial intelligence is that the legal framework adopts a human-centered approach, countering the inevitable dehumanization of access caused by the development of technology. As artificial intelligence continues to penetrate our daily lives, the need to protect human rights without stifling technological progress becomes the greatest challenge.

The activities are part of the project “Human Rights Protection in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society, with financial support from the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI).
