For that purpose the following documents were prepared:

These documents were printed and delivered to the advisors of the Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment and the European Affairs Committee of the Assembly of RM, so that they would forward them to the members of these committees.

The initial activity conducted during the process of lobbying and advocacy for the Law on e-waste were the meetings agreed and held with the president of the European Affairs Committee, Mr. Hajrula Misini and the president of the Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment, Mr. Redzhailj Ismaili.

During the meeting with Mr. Hajrula Misini held on October 10, 2011, the draft amendments to the Law on management of electrical and electronic equipment and waste electrical and electronic equipment were discussed (stipulated in the Policy Brief). Mr. Misini suggested that an English version of the proposed amendments should be delivered to him, so that it would be submitted to the European Union in order to determine the compliance of the law with the EU directives more easily.

The draft amendments to the Law on management of electrical and electronic equipment and waste electrical and electronic equipment were also presented at the meeting with Mr. Redzhailj Ismaili held on 12 October 2011 and it was agreed that they should be presented to all members of the Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment . During the session of the Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment held on October 12, 2011, the representative of the Metamorphosis Foundation (Elena Ignatova) had the opportunity to present the draft amendments to the bill to all the attendants of the session, including representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (deputy minister Mr. Stevo Temelkovski and the Head of the European Union department – Ms. Jadranka Ivanova). Lawmakers expressed interest to receive a more detailed analysis of the situation with e-waste in Macedonia, which would serve as a resource for the second reading of the law.

In the coming period, the Metamorphosis Foundation will monitor the process of adoption of the Law on management with electrical and electronic equipment and waste electrical and electronic equipment and will continue lobbying by conducting various activities.
