Today, in Public Room, the analysis of e-services offered by municipalities in the Republic of Macedonia was presented, as a result of the research conducted by the Metamorphosis Foundation, which is being conducted for the third time (2014, 2021, 2023) and shows the progress in the digitalization of Macedonian municipalities.

The analysis shows general progress compared to previous research, but the conclusion presented by Prof. Dr. Zoran Janevski is that it has been happening for too long and too slowly and what has changed is more in terms of automation than a fundamental digital transformation from which we are still very far away.
It is interesting to emphasize that although municipalities as institutions exist to serve citizens, one of the conclusions of the research is that a very small proportion of municipalities listen to the voice of citizens when choosing a future offer of new municipal e-services.

The greatest progress is seen in Kriva Palanka, Vasilevo, Debarca, Negotino, and Bitola, according to the value of the e-Government Services Index at the local level.
This methodology is standardized to allow comparisons not only between municipalities, but also at regional and global levels.
The biggest problem with implementing digitalization in institutions is that there is no comprehensive plan and strategy for implementing the digital agenda.
At the promotion of the publication and the research analyses, Program Director Dance Danilovska-Bajdevska emphasized in her speech that digital transformation and digitalization are one of the top priorities of the European Union. She also emphasized that the benefits of this are that the shadow economy and corruption will be reduced, and consequently the transparency of the work of institutions will be increased.
