The constitutive session of the Council for Coordination and Monitoring of the Open Government Partnership Process 2024-2026 was held on May 17. The session formalized the constitution of the Council as an advisory body for the Open Government Partnership of the Republic of North Macedonia (OGP) for coordination and monitoring the development and implementation of action plans.
The session was opened by the Minister of Information Society and Administration, Naim Bajrami. He addressed the benefits of the process, the importance of involving all stakeholders, as well as the National OGP Action Plan 2024-2026, which builds on the previous intensity of work by making commitments to increase public participation and deliver solutions that make a difference.
Minister Bajrami emphasized that the establishment of the Council will ensure a structured approach to maximizing participation and cooperation between institutions and civil society throughout all phases of the OGP process.
“I am convinced that this Council, with the established composition of 8 members representing the Government, the Parliament and the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Macedonia and an equal number of representatives from civil society organizations nominated through the CSO Network for Open Government Partnership, will respond to the jointly set goals,” said Minister Bajrami.
The session was also addressed by Gordana Gapikj Dimitrovska, National Coordinator of the Republic of North Macedonia for OGP, who indicated that she was extremely pleased with the establishment of the Council, based on the experiences from the previous cycle, which establishes a functional system of coordination and monitoring of the OGP process.
Marijana Jancheska, as a representative of the CSO Network, emphasized that in this process of co-creation, civil society organizations were actively involved as facilitators of the priority areas and as members of the Council, with active support from all members of the working groups.

The Open Government Partnership is a voluntary international initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to their citizens to promote transparency, encourage citizen participation, fight corruption, and utilize new technologies to strengthen good governance.
Our country has been a member of the initiative since 2011 and has adopted six national action plans (in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2024). The coordinator of government activities for OGP is the Ministry of Information Society and Administration (MISA).
To achieve the desired success and ensure proper and timely implementation, effective organization and coordination, in the spirit of the Open Government Partnership, are essential. The involvement of civil society and institutions is essential for the success of the entire process. That is why the structure for coordination, monitoring and implementation of the process in the Republic of North Macedonia consists of the Open Government Partnership Council and the Working Group with all stakeholders for the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Open Government Partnership, with the full support of the Ministry of Information Society and Administration as the competent ministry for this initiative.
