By launching Glasomer, the Metamorphosis Foundation from Skopje, in cooperation with citizens’ associations ‘Zašto ne’ from Sarajevo and LiNet from Belgrade, continues the regional initiative for implementation of new technologies for voter education and greater transparency of political subjects supported by the U.S. non-profit foundation NED (National Endowment for Democracy) funded by the U.S. Congress, as part of efforts for democracy development in the region.

How does Glasomer.mk work?

In the past few weeks, all the political parties in Macedonia were invited to answer a simple questionnaire and thus inform citizens about their views, opinions and intentions. Most of the key political subjects used this opportunity for transparent contact with the constituency and their responses were entered into the system.

Any internet user can fill out the very same questionnaire, and afterwards the system enables users to compare their own answers with those of the parties, and to learn more about their declared views on various issues related to public policies in key social areas.

Some of the political parties have pledged to respond, but they have not submitted the completed questionnaires yet. If they do, their answers will be added to the system for citizens to see the extent to which they agree with them.

The result from the use of Glasomer.mk is a raised level of awareness of the citizens, and increased opportunities for parties to raise the level of transparency and accountability before the citizens through interaction with the civil sector and the public.

Metamorphosis is an independent, nonpartisan and nonprofit foundation. Its main goals are development of democracy and prosperity by promoting knowledge-based economy and information society.
