The Metamorphosis Foundation, the Rural Coalition and the Center for Social Innovations Blink 42-21 are organizing a thematic forum “Engaged Community for Corruption Resilience” on October 16, 2024, starting at 10:30 AM at the Civil Society Resource Center in Skopje. The agenda for the forum is available here.

Combating corruption is essential for strengthening trust in the local government, and protecting democracy and good governance at the local level. Corruption is recognized as the biggest problem by citizens, and digital technologies offer great potential for its reduction by increasing transparency. This requires greater openness of local government and active cooperation with the community.

Through the forum, our goal is to encourage action against corruption, uniting representatives from local government, civil society organizations, activists, experts, citizens and media outlets in a joint fight based on inclusiveness and cooperation.

The event will present the results of the Local Government Openness Index for 2024 and discuss good practices and challenges for more transparent local government in order to increase citizen trust and eradicate corruption. Additionally, the benefits of digital technologies in increasing the transparency of local government and citizen participation in decision-making processes at the local level will be discussed, through the digital tool mZaednica.

The event will take place in Macedonian with the presence of 40 participants at the Civil Society Resource Center (Skopje) and with a live broadcast provided via the Facebook page of the Metamorphosis Foundation.

All those interested in participating in the event should register at the following link no later than October 10, 2024: https://forms.gle/BFg9zi2ZGLhXByE86

Due to limited space, places for physical attendance are limited.

For participants coming from outside Skopje, travel expenses will be covered in the amount of a return bus ticket with mandatory submission of the original travel documentation, namely a bus or train ticket with a fiscal receipt or a fiscal receipt for fuel and tolls (if there are tolls on that route). The submitted travel documentation must be dated on the event itself or a maximum of one day before. Travel documentation dated several days before/after the event will not be recognized.

Privacy Note: The event will be recorded and streamed live on the Metamorphosis Foundation Facebook page, and the footage will be shared on the project partners’ websites and social media outlets. Photos taken during the event will be promoted on the project partners’ websites and social media outlets, and will be provided to the donor for project reporting purposes.

The thematic forum is made possible with the support of the Government of Switzerland through Civica Mobilitas within the framework of the project “Digital Transformation at Local Level – Engaged Community for Corruption Resilience (DIGILOC)” implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society in partnership with the Rural Coalition and the Center for Social Innovations Blink 42-21.
