The Metamorphosis Foundation and the International Center for Journalists are continuing the “Journalism for а New Generation” program for the third year in a row with the support of the US Embassy in Skopje. This year, dozens of young people from the country have the opportunity to participate in trainings, be part of paid internships, while the best will go on a week-long study visit to the United States.
This year, three workshops will be held, the first in November on Data Journalism, the second in February on Fact-Checking, and the third in April on Prebunking.
The best participants in the three workshops will be invited to a one-month paid internship in one of the three media outlets of the Metamorphosis Foundation – Meta News Agency, Portalb.mk and Truthmeter.mk. The best interns, in turn, will have the opportunity to visit the US capital, Washington, where they will stay for one week during the summer.
The first workshop on Data Journalism will be held from November 13 to 15 in Skopje and anyone interested in participating who is between the ages of 18 and 29 can apply at this link.
The trainers will be the eminent journalist of the “New York Times,” Robert Gebeloff, who also teaches data journalism at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York and the Editor-in-Chief of the Meta News Agency, Goran Rizaov.
Participants in the first workshop will learn about the entire process of working with data, from finding, downloading, cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing. They will learn how to use free advanced tools for these purposes. Among other things, the workshop will demonstrate the basics of data visualization software.
The number of participants is limited, and all those interested in participating in this workshop can apply at the following link. The workshop will last three days and will be held entirely in English.
Applications for the other two workshops, fact-checking and prebunking are also open. Exact dates and locations will be determined later.
