The project MEC – Model for Efficient Communication between the Commissions for Interethnic Relations and the Citizens (MEC), supported by the European Union and co-funded by the Metamorphosis Foundation is aiming at strengthening the capacity of the commissions, and is being implemented in partnership with the Association of citizens for support of inter-ethnic relations and community development “Common Values” – Skopje.
The training was attended by 15 representatives of the commissions and municipal councillors from the four pilot municipalities: Gostivar, Debar, Tetovo and Chair. The purpose of the training was to share knowledge in the area of public relations, i.e. relations with the traditional and new media, as a prerequisite for successful implementation of the future project activities covering the organization of local public events in order to improve the cooperation between the commissions and the population in the pilot municipalities.
Ms. Vanja Mirkovski, a specialist in public relations was the main lecturer at the training, sharing her extensive experience in this field via theoretical modules, examples from work in the business and development sectors, and via interactive exercises and activities for all the participants.
After the training, participants said that the knowledge they acquired will contribute to the development of the Commissions for Interethnic Relations in their municipalities, planning to apply that knowledge in public events organized as part of the project and beyond.
All the training materials, as well as other e-books and school aids from this field are available at the e-Learning section: Public and Media Relations at the MEC project website.
