The second round of the joint meetings for identifying a potential framework for the rest of the packages pertaining to Macedonia, attended by businessmen and representatives of nongovernmental organizations and institutions working in the area of tourism in Macedonia, took place in Tetovo. The meeting was also attended by guests of the Albanian Elbasan region, with the aim to see the link of the potential joint products.

– Success can only be a result of a joint action, while offering unique quality tourism packages – said Florent Bajrami, coordinator of the Smart Tourism Enhancement Project (STEP), funded by the European Union.

Today’s meeting brought some other aspects of tourism to light, such as the package possibility for the historical road of Via Egnatia alongside with its side roads for delivering merchandise and other resources.

Hasan Drazi, representative of the Council of the Elbasan county, was amazed by the possibilities offered by the mountain tourism in this region and he hopes that one of the following packages would be Shkumbini (Pena) – one name, two rivers, characteristic for both sides of the border.

Apart from the possibilities, the participants listed a great deal of problems that demand institutional engagement in order to trace the road to an effective tourism in a better manner.

The informal meetings during the upcoming period will set the initial framework for the possible cross-border tourism packages.
