In the direction of building a safer and more inclusive digital space, at the invitation of the National Youth Council of Macedonia, Metamorphosis Foundation conducted a workshop aimed at empowering young girls and women against online harassment and cyberbullying. The workshop was held at the premises of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) on 28.03.2024 together with participants who were eager to explore the complexity of online harassment and effective prevention and response strategies.
During the workshop, attendees engaged in interactive exercises, sharing personal experiences, and jointly developing solutions to combat online violence. From identifying different types of cyberbullying to discussing the motive behind such behavior, participants gained valuable insights into the dynamics of online harassment and the importance of digital literacy and responsible citizenship.
Notably, the workshop highlighted the disproportionate impact of cyberbullying on women and marginalized communities, shedding light on the connection between gender-based violence and online abuse. By encouraging open dialogue and providing practical guidance on using prevention and support mechanisms, the workshop encouraged participants to take proactive steps to protect their “digital selves” and advocate for a safer online environment for all.
As the digital landscape continues to evolve, initiatives like these play a key role in equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to responsibly and ethically navigate the complexities of the digital world. Through collaborative efforts and community engagement, the Metamorphosis Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to create a more inclusive and resilient digital society.
