From March 13-15, the training “Fact Checking and Other Means for Combating Disinformation” was held at the Gardenia Hotel in Veles, organized by the Metamorphosis Foundation in partnership with the International Center for Journalists.
Participants had the opportunity to learn from the best fact-checkers how to recognize and debunk disinformation and fake news and to learn through practical work the methods of fact-checking. This is of utmost importance considering that we live in a time when we are witnessing an increasing number of false information and disinformation in everyday life, something that can lead to serious social, but also global consequences.
The top six participants in the series of three trainings, one of which has already taken place, will have the opportunity to undertake a one-month paid internship in one of the three media outlets of the Metamorphosis Foundation (Truthmeter.mk, Meta.mk and Portalb.mk), during the next summer. The top three, in turn, will go on a one-week study visit to the United States with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) in Washington.
The event is part of the “Journalism for a New Generation” project, which the Metamorphosis Foundation is implementing in partnership with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), and with the support of the US Embassy in Skopje, in the period from September 2023 to July 2024.
