The Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society is organizing a workshop titled “What is the EU Digital Services Act and why is it important?” intended for civil society organizations and media outlets, which will be held on January 16, 2025 (Thursday) , starting at 10 am, at Public Room (Kids Room).
This workshop aims to raise awareness among civil society organizations and media outlets in North Macedonia of the importance of harmonizing Macedonian legislation with the European Union’s Digital Services Act, which aims to prevent illegal and harmful activities online, as well as the spread of disinformation, while ensuring user safety, protecting fundamental rights, and creating a fair and open environment for online platforms.
The workshop will also present the findings from the analysis of North Macedonia’s regulatory and institutional readiness for alignment with the EU Digital Services Act.

The workshop is being implemented within the framework of the project “Ensuring the Integration of the Western Balkans into the Digital Single Market,” which aims to advance digital rights standards in the Western Balkans region and contribute to its successful integration into the Digital Single Market. This initiative represents a joint effort to address the uneven digital rights standards in the Western Balkans countries through a multi-stakeholder approach in order to achieve meaningful change. By using the research conducted as a basis and involving various stakeholders, we aim to pave the way for the successful integration of the region into the digital economy, while preserving fundamental rights in the digital sphere. The project is funded by the Open Society Foundations Western Balkans, and implemented by Partners Serbia (Serbia), Metamorphosis Foundation (North Macedonia), Why Not? (Bosnia and Herzegovina), NGO 35 mm (Montenegro), Women in Tech Kosovo (Kosovo) and the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (Albania).
