On the occasion of January 28, European Data protection day, Directorate for Personal Data Protection of Republic of Macedonia organized Open Doors Event on January 29, 2007.
Direct occasion for the event is the decision of Council of Europe that proclaimed January 28 European Data protection day. Initiative for personal data protection day was initiated by Consultative Committee (P-PD) and the January 28 was the date on which the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (ЕТС 108/81) was open for signing.
Main idea of the Council of Europe was that all bodies in charge of personal data protection in the member-states to organize activities for various target groups thus celebrating the European Data protection day.
Main activity of the Directorate for Personal Data Protection of Republic of Macedonia
On the occasion of European Data protection day was Open Doors Event organized on January 29, 2007. All interested citizens were invited to visit the Directorate and to be informed about its work and principles for personal data protection. Apart from the citizens, the Directorate was visited by pupils from several secondary schools in Skopje that are very important target group.
Directorate employees introduced pupils with the work of the Directorate, with the manner in which the personal data protection is regulated in Republic of Macedonia and in Europe.
Informative materials about personal data protection were distributed to the visitors.
