Macedonia: Conference ‘Freedom and privacy on the internet’


The Metamorphosis Foundation and the International Institute for Peace and Human Rights from Caen are organizing an international conference on the topic ‘Freedom and privacy on the internet’, on May 21-22, 2012. The event is organized within the framework of the long-term project for decentralized cooperation between Macedonia and the Lower Normandy region supported by the France-Balkan Network, and will be held in City Hall in Skopje.

Online privacy will be covered during the first day of the conference, and freedom of expression during the second; experts from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and France will hold presentations on various aspects of both topics.


Some of the speakers are: Sebastien Botreau-Bonneterre from the Institute for Peace and Human Rights from Caen, Leila Bicakcic from the Center for Investigative Reporting – Sarajevo, Georgi Apostolov from the Center for Safer Internet – Bulgaria, representatives of Free Software Macedonia, TV and web editors, experts on human rights and hate speech. The conference will be moderated by Biljana Bejkova from the NGO Infocentre and Petrit Saracini from the Macedonian Institute for Media.
