Open Access Week 2012
October 22 marks the start of Open Access Week 2012, as thousands of scholars, faculties, and students in nearly 90 countries worldwide participate in events to raise awareness and advance understanding of the benefits of open access.
A global event now entering its sixth year, Open Access Week (October 22 to 28) is an opportunity for the academic and research community to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access (OA), to share ideas with colleagues, and to inspire wider participation in establishing Open Access as a new norm in scholarship and research.
Research funding agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, non-profits, businesses, and others use open access as a valuable platform to launch institution-wide open-access policies, expanded open-access publication funds, and new reports on the societal and economic benefits of OA.
Metamorphosis will participate in the Open Access Week 2012 with its own presentation of the achievements so far in the area of open access, as well as the current efforts to raise the awareness and strengthen the capacities to develop and share open educational resources.
The presentation will be held by Irina Shumadieva and Sead Dzigal.
