CRITICAL THINKING FOR MEDIAWISE CITIZENS – CRITHINK.MK PROJECT’S SMALL GRANTS SCHEME

17.01.2021

Grants

The EU-funded Critical Thinking for Mediawise Citizens – CriThink.mk project, implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation in partnership with Eurothink – Centre for European Strategies, from January 1, 2018 until December 31, 2020, supported a total of 17 initiatives through its small grants scheme.

The scheme awarded small grants ranging from 5,500 to 7,500 EUR, to local civil society organizations across all 8 planning regions in the country. These grants aimed to support initiatives that promote creation of a culture of critical thinking through promotion of media literacy, at the local level. Grantees implemented activities in partnership with media – local or national, as well as with educational and other public institutions or other relevant stakeholders.

The small grants scheme addressed the challenges faced by media literacy advocates, particularly the pressing need to reach broader audiences, while fostering sustainable and inclusive cooperation between civil society, media and citizens. Funded projects involved the innovative use of digital technologies to enhance public education and overcome barriers to cross-sectoral collaboration. This approach helped strengthen the role of civil society organizations, expand the content they offer to citizens and increase their capacity to tackle challenges in this field.
