Within the framework of the project “Network of Civil Society Organizations for Effective Active Participation” implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation in partnership with the Macedonian Center for European Education (MCEE) and with financial assistance from the European Union, a small grants scheme of 12.000 euros was implemented to support actions by networks of civil society organizations.
The purpose of the grants scheme was to support the implementation of local initiatives aimed at solving specific problems in communities by using new technologies for active civic participation, by connecting and influencing local self-government units, other government bodies and stakeholders.
The grant scheme provided support for local projects from networks of civil society organizations by awarding 6 small grants in the amount of 1500-2500 euros and duration of 3 months with the aim of actively involving citizens in the work of local self-government in Skopje, Tetovo, Debar, Veles, Shtip and Strumica.
The awarded grants are listed below.
Organisation | Project | Location |
---|---|---|
Ecological Society ”Villa Zora” | Green services for citizens | Veles |
Foundation for Local Community Development | Parking is a life standard | Shtip |
Eco Logic | Promoting and initiating mutual cooperation and networking between the civil sector and local authorities | Skopje |

Young European Federalists | Councillors Discuss, Citizens Read | Kumanovo |
Association „NOVUS“ | Municipality of Strumica – Accountable, Participatory and Transparent Municipality Tailored to the Citizens | Strumica |
All six networks were included in a capacity-building program that includes training and mentoring so that they jointly contribute more qualitatively to the development of transparency and accountability at the local and national levels.
Among the most prominent results from the whole grant scheme was the creation of the Network of civil society organizations for effective active participation and signing of a joint declaration towards promoting good governance as one of the basic prerequisites for democratization of society and progress in the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia.
