About the photographs of Meto Angelov

…These photographs represent a complex project with several possible levels of interpretation. The complexity arises from the problem existing as an everyday consumption model, the way of understanding, interpreting and using it. The idea is developed with the function of art as a means for supplementing the consuming phantasms i.e. needs of everyone following and supplementing the brand, or everyone whose secondary desire is the brand. The social situation i.e. the conveyance of the message of the marginalized population (peripheral urban environment) is adding up to this ethical dimension of the project. The interest for the urban categories, the mix of two realities –  the urban and peripheral urban, is present and is a completion, or, to be more precise, a continuation of an expansive cycle pushed by the big companies which is not present (or does not want to be present) in the peripheral urbanization.
The medium being used as the beginning of the message conveyance is the analog photograph, the brands and the temporary (un)patented everyday objects/means.

The Macedonian Creative Commons licenses, the world famous licenses that enable the expansion of free culture, were promoted in June. After adapting the licenses to the domestic legal system, Macedonia became the 38th member country of the Creative Commons family. The Creative Commons system is part of the copyright protection system, with which the communication of the authors with their public is facilitated, as well as the communication with other authors that want to use their work as a basis for their own work.

Aside from localizing the appropriate section for issuing licenses at the central Creative Commons website, the Metamorphosis Foundation published the opening of the Macedonian portal intended for encouraging e-content development and their promotion – www.cc.org.mk. All e-content authors will be able to learn more about the licenses through the portal, and they will be able to set links to their licensed works. The portal also provides hosting to the authors that cannot publish their work on their own websites.
Photographs, audio and video recordings licensed by Creative Commons will soon be made available at the portal.

Many commercial systems are already licensed and available, such as the Flicker – photo database owned by Yahoo, as well as Microsoft Office through an add-on, OpenOffice, as well as Apple’s iTunes and iPod.
