Politics is dominant in Macedonian media. This is the result from the latest content analysis of the search engine Najdi!.

Macedonian search engine Najdi! and Foundation Metamorposis present Media words of the year – words with the most increased occurrence in the media (*) in the year 2004 compared with their occurrence in the year 2003. Lists of the words are divided into categories of more often and more rarely used words, as well as the category of the words used very rarely last year. In addition, there are lists of the individuals with the most increased and decreased media interest for them in the year 2004.

From the results provided below it is obvious that the media in the year 2004 have been (over)stuffed with politics. Summer Olympics in Athens and new member of the first Macedonian football league (Bregalnica) Kraun are the only words which are not connected to political events and politicians.

*Comparison is based on the texts published on the web sites of the following Macedonian daily newspapers: Vest, Dnevnik and Utrinski Vesnik, A1 TV station and the portal Idividi. The sites must have had complete archive for the years 2003 and 2004, and to have substantial number of published texts. The comparison is performed for the texts published from January 1st to December 27, 2004, in comparison to the texts published in the year 2003.
