On 24 November 2016, Ministry of Data, in cooperation with Metamorphosis Foundation, held a Ministry of Data meetup that took place in Cresha Bar in Skopje. The event’s aim was to inform all interested citizens, organizations and companies on the opportunity that Ministry of Data offers to everyone who will take part in this regional challenge for creating apps, which supports youth’s creative potential, open data and technology’s progress for inclusive management in the Western Balkans. 15179198_10154695503766873_7576116090360546695_nIdeas that will originate during this event will be related to the way of how we can transform our cities and improve governance, effectiveness and public participation on local level via visualizations/analytics, mobile apps and other e-solutions. Two teams that will take part in the challenge will win tailored mentorship schemes and a prize of 2500 USD. 15219968_10154695504401873_614231723599779413_nAlso, the best visualizations/analytics, mobile apps and other e-solutions that use spatial data will win an additional prize of 2500 USD. img_20161124_172009The first part of the informal meeting saw the presentation of videos of Relatewith.it and Warsaw Ninjas, last year’s winning ideas, which spurred the attendees to start discussion, ask questions and brainstorm ideas. Additionally, the first part of the meeting was used for presentation of the openprocurement.mk web app, which is an example of how open data are gathered from institutions in the Republic of Macedonia, the challenges ICT4Change faced during the creation of the app as well as tips for everyone that wants to take part in this challenge. 15232242_10154695503821873_7557297743083835063_nDuring the second part, the participants had a Skype conversation with a Ministry of Data representative, who explained the conditions and form of application. 15171205_10154695503721873_5255908277779129902_n

Ministry of Data is a regional app challenge that supports youth’s creative potential, open data and technology’s progress for inclusive management in the Western Balkans.
