obuka_01.2013This was a three-day training and it started with the session on photography, during which the participants were familiarized with the techniques for quick photo processing of photographs intended to be posted on the web using the Picasa software, and they also acquired knowledge about advanced photo processing with the assistance of the photo processing software Gimp.

The second half of the day continued with the session on processing audio recordings. At this session the participants recorded their voice using a computer and a microphone, as well as the Audacity software to process this material and practically acquired the basic technical skills necessary for creating and processing audio recordings intended for the web.

During the second day, participants were familiarized with the method for processing video materials and acquired skills for creating and processing web videos. In this session participants practically applied the knowledge acquired through an exercise for video editing in Windows Movie Maker.

obuka1_01.2013During the rest of the day participants worked with services enabling them to create multimedia on the web. In this session, in addition to being familiarized with online services through practical exercises as a follow up to the work done in previous sessions, they used what they have already completed for creating a slideshow of photos using the Flicker photo service, for publishing audio content on the web with Sound Cloud, for creating slidecasts (presentations + audio background) with Slideshare, publishing and processing video content on the web with YouTube, as well as subtitling video content with Dotsub. These skills will help them create multimedia content with free web services and to use these services to enrich their online articles, and add multimedia components to their usual daily articles.

The last day started with the introduction of rules for writing on the web through practical work in WordPress and Joomla, and the participants learned how to edit their articles and to embed multimedia content into their web articles through exercises. At the end of this session they were also familiarized with the free Creative Commons licenses and their practical application in the digital context.

In the final session of the three-day training, participants were presented with the tactics of promoting web content through social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkdin, Pinterest and Google +, as well as the techniques for interacting with the online audience and attracting a new one. This last session informed participants about the latest trends for promotion through social media.

With this training, the total number of journalists trained is 43, and Metamorphosis will continue to conduct these trainings.
