This guide was deemed necessary since the only source of information in a number of municipalities in Macedonia were the websites of the local self-government, which are rarely updated. Moreover, there is a lack of web-spaces for mutual communication.
Having in mind the success of the free encyclopedia Wikipedia, as well as some local wiki portals (eg. Wikimanche), the Metamorphosis Foundation is promoting the wiki-technology as a cheap and effective solution to these problems and therefore created Wiki.mk, making more wiki portals directly available to the local communities.
The guide is intended for participants at the trainings on wiki.mk conducted in April this year, and for all future volunteers willing to contribute to their city. The guide is available both electronically and in print, in Macedonian and Albanian language.
This project is implemented in cooperation with Wikimedia Macedonia, which is responsible for the technical realization and field preparations, and in cooperation with several other NGOs on a local level.
