Open Gov Week will be held from 17-21 May 2021 as a global initiative that promotes democracy, encourages greater involvement, and promotes good governance through cooperation between citizens and government.
Global Open Gov Week will include over 100 events where citizens, civil society organizations, government officials and other stakeholders will gather to share ideas, discuss solutions and commit to a higher level of civic participation in the work of government in order to find better ways for governments to serve their citizens. This year’s Open Gov Week will focus on how to renew commitment and rebuild transparent, accountable, participatory and inclusive governments, institutions and societies.
The Metamorphosis Foundation will mark Open Gov Week by organizing two events: the Open Data Hackathon and the promotion of open data by local self-government units with the RNM. The activities are implemented within the USAID Civic Engagement Project.
The Open Data Hackathon is a four-day challenge that aims to bring together and encourage young, creative and innovative people to come up with demo innovative solutions that should bring open data released by state-run institutions closer to citizens. The Open Data Hackathon will take place online from 17-20 May 2021. More information can be found at the following link:
On 19 May 2021, open data, prepared and published by 17 local self-government units in North Macedonia with the support of the Metamorphosis Foundation, will be promoted. In cooperation with local civil society organizations and facilitators, Metamorphosis provided direct support to 17 municipalities to improve transparency in their operations and disclosure of open data. The implemented activities contribute to the efforts of the municipalities to be more open to the citizens and to base transparency on open data and information.
