Public debate on the Draft-Law on management of electrical and electronic equipment and waste electrical and electronic equipment

In order to enable all the stakeholders to engage in the debate on the bill, three public debates have been scheduled throughout Macedonia:

• First public debate: May 25, 2011 in Stip. The debate will be held in the premises of the municipality, (12:00-14:00).
• Second public debate: May 30, 2011 in Skopje. The debate will be held in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce (12:00-14:00).
• Third public debate: June 9, 2011 in Ohrid. The debate will be held in the premises of the municipality, (13:00-15:00) (to be confirmed).

Elena Ignatova from the Metamorphosis Foundation and Lence Kjurchieva from the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning will hold presentations during the debate, after which a discussion will be opened on the Draft-law on management of electrical and electronic equipment and waste electrical and electronic equipment.

The events are organized as part of the project “Strengthening citizens’ participation in the legislative process” of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), in order to advocate for the adoption of a law for management of electronic and electrical waste. These activities are in compliance with the current project of Metamorphosis on this subject: “Balkan e-Waste Management Advocacy Network”.
