After we skipped the annual conference in 2020 and had an online edition during 2021, POINT conference is coming back home in an offline form. The conference will be held on 11th and 12th November this year, in Dom mladih Sarajevo.
POINT Conference (Political Accountability and New Technologies) is the largest conference of this type in the Southeastern Europe (SEE) region and it seeks to be a platform for civil society that encourages the use of new technologies. Since its first edition in 2011, the POINT Conference has become a unique meeting place for civic activists and civil society representatives from SEE, but also from all over the world, as well as a platform for exchanging ideas and innovative solutions to promote a responsible and open society.
Following the online edition of the conference called “POINT Talks”, in which we discussed a number of different topics, we decided to hold the conference offline in a slightly modified format.
Over the past two years of the pandemic, a lot has changed and the lives of all of us have been affected in various ways. Having this in mind, we would use this years’ POINT conference under the name “Coming home” to reflect on the past period and to open the space for regional activists and POINT participants to reflect on this period in various ways and tackle topics that have changed our lives in the last two years.
The conference panels will aim to open the discussion and give a chance to all of us to reflect on topics such as organizing events, organization of work, mental health and wellbeing, increase of conspiracy theories, political organizing and elections, and other topics that shaped our work and lives during the past period.
You can apply for travel and accommodation fellowships if you are coming from the following countries in the Balkans:
- Albania
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- North Macedonia
- Montenegro
- Serbia
- Kosovo (open call closed on 18th of October 2021.)
We are inviting anyone who works in the intersection of activism, political accountability and new technologies in Southeast Europe, to submit a proposal for a short (up to 15 min) presentation about their work in the field.
