On 27 December 2021, the third meeting of the Working Group for preparation of the draft-Law on the Use of Public Sector Data was held. The working group is part of the activities that the Ministry of Information Society and Administration (MISA) in cooperation with the Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society, and within the USAID Civic Engagement Project, implements to harmonize the Law on Public Sector Data Use with the EU Directive on open data and re-use of public sector information (2019/1024).

The working group is composed of fifteen representatives of state institutions, civil society and media, and will make a significant contribution to the preparation of the impact assessment of the implementation of the current law (ex-post evaluation), regulatory impact assessment of the new legal solution and preparation of the new draft law.

The Working Group has already reviewed and commented on the first draft analysis of the Directive on Open Data and Re-use of Public Sector Information from 20 June 2019 (2019/1024). At today’s meeting, Irena Bojadzievska presented the first impact assessment of the implementation of the current law. At the meeting, questions and dilemmas were asked and discussed the current legal solution and proposals were offered as the next legal solution to be better and to open space for greater economic use of the opportunities offered by the concept of open data.

Meetings and interviews with experts and interest groups from academia, media, researchers, and software companies are currently being held.
