The two-day training (January 20-21) on animation and production of caricatures and cartoons which was attended by ten participants has been successfully completed.  The training was conducted by three animators from several public access points to digital technologies in Basse Normandie.

During the two-day training, various techniques were employed. Short video stories were produced during the first day with the use of the stop animation technique.  Participants were working in two groups, the first of which was mainly using plasticine for space modeling, whereas the second group worked with Lego minifigures only. The videos were recorded with the free software Stop Motion Animator, and further processed with video processing software, for adding sound effects.

The agenda for the second day of the training included work with several online tools.  Participants were making comics before noon, using the online tool Bubblaka which allows users to include their own photographs and characters in the drawn objects. During the afternoon, participants were creating cartoons with Toonway.

The training was attended by two representatives from each of the digital clubhouses in Debar, Veles and Kamenjane, employees of the Metamorphosis Foundation and associates from ALDA and the Courrier.

The training was conducted within the framework of the project “Decentralized cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Basse Normandie region – France. As part of the same project, Metamorphosis will conduct a similar training for the animators in the Basse Normandie region (February 9-11, 2010).  The training will include an elaboration of the methodology for conducting trainings on digital storytelling, meaning that video stories will also be created by the participants themselves, and the topic of the video stories will be: “What am I doing to improve my community?”
