Training on the Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for Dealing with Misinformation, Disinformation and Information Gaps Related to Vaccination Held

On November 23 and 24, 2023, the training on the implementation of standard operating procedures for dealing with misinformation, disinformation and information gaps related to vaccination was held, within “Misinformation Management System and Journalists Briefings” project implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society in partnership with UNICEF and in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of North Macedonia, with the financial support from USAID.

The project aims to develop and integrate a Misinformation Management System in the work of the Ministry of Health thus enabling national health authorities to identify and respond to misinformation, disinformation and information gap related to vaccination that increase hesitancy related to vaccination in general and affect the trust in health authorities in North Macedonia.

To the health professionals from the health centers from the country, who attended the training, the Misinformation Management System (MMS) was presented as well as the Standard Operating Procedures for social listening (online and offline) related to vaccination within MMS; for the work of the Governmental Expert Body responsible for analyzing the reports resulting from the MMS and developing recommendations for further actions; and for defining the responsibilities for implementation of the recommendations.

Furthermore, within the training, representatives of Metamorphosis presented what and how much is informed and disinformed about vaccines and vaccination, as well as what are the most common disinformation about vaccines and what are the reasons for their occurrence.

This Activity is prepared by Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society as part of the Preventing and responding to COVID-19 in North Macedonia project funded by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of North Macedonia.
