Metamorphosis Foundation and Eurothink – Center for European Strategies invite all interested civil society organizations and media to attend the info sessions regarding the Small Grant Scheme within the Critical Thinking for Mediawise Citizens – CriThink project, supported by the European Union.

The open competition for small grants is the first of the two cycles within the Small Grant Scheme published on 1 June, and it stays opened until 6 July 2018. Eight grants will be awarded within the first cycle, which will support one project in each of the eight planning regions of Macedonia. The total amount of the first cycle is 50.000 euros, i.e. 5000-7000 euros per grant.

Further information about the project and the Small Grant Scheme is available at partners’ websites as well as project’s website http://crithink.mk/

The overall objective of the action is to promote media literacy, which serves as basis for safeguarding the right of citizens to hold diverse opinions, via stimulating a culture of critical thinking, pluralism of opinion and democratic values.

Specific objectives:

  • To foster a culture of critical thinking via education of the general public on the detrimental impact of media manipulations on democracy and European values.
  • To increase capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) and media to address media manipulations (incl. hate speech) by improving the media literacy levels via joint engagement with state institutions.
  • To increase citizen demand for accountable media through public education, promotion of professional standards and international practices that protect freedom of opinion and expression

In order to bring the interested parties closer to and further explain both the Small Grant Scheme and the project itself, Metamorphosis and Eurothink are organizing info session in towns in each of Macedonia’s planning regions.
