Ministry of Information Society and Administration, Ministry of Education and Science, in cooperation with Metamorphosis Foundation, call all teachers and professors to register for the EU Code Week 2018 which will be held between 6 and 21 October 2018 at different locations in multiple European countries.

EU Code Week is an initiative supported by the European Commission, launched for the first time in 2013, and aims at bettering the digital skills in Europe. In 2017, 25.089 events attended by 1 million participants, were organized in 52 countries worldwide as part of the EU Code Week. Macedonia actively participates in the EU Code Week by registering events in various educational institutions, and this year we want to secure greater presence of Macedonian schools which would increase interest and basic skills of the youngest generations for programming and development of digital skills.

By registering an event, each school contributes toward raising awareness of youngest generations’ for development of digital skills as an important strategic goal of the EU member states. This commitment was emphasized during the Western Balkans Digital Summit in Skopje, and was supported by the Euro commissioner Mariya Gabriel.

Any teacher in elementary and high schools on the territory of the RM can participate by registering 1 lesson (intracurricular or extracurricular) that will be held over the course of the EU Code Week.

Programming lesson can be registered by registering a teacher, educational institution and the official website. A profile with username and password will have to be created as well. The registration deadline is 6 October 2018.

All registered parties that will organize a lesson during the EU Code Week will receive a certificate of participation.

As part of the EU Code Week, Metamorphosis Foundation published a call for awarding 300-euro grants within the Meet and Code program for bigger projects applied for by partnerships between civil society organizations and schools.

Teachers can team up with a local non-profit organization and together submit their event idea not later than 15 September 2018 on the Meet and Code website. The selected participants will receive monetary remuneration and will have the opportunity to win an award.
