The Metamorfosis Foundation, through its representative Mila Josifovska Danilovska (Program Manager of the Social Accountability and Human Rights Online programs), was part of this year’s event of the Balkan Investigative Journalism Network – BIRN Hub, Internet Freedom Meet. The event took place between 24-28 September 2022 in Tirana, with a special focus on the use of technology in the protection of human rights.

The format of the event was a combination of exchange of opinions and experiences between participants through discussions, presentation of practical knowledge and information, as well as data analysis on various topics – feminism and the Internet, violation of the human rights of the LGBT community online, the connection between elections and social networks, artificial intelligence and its (mis)use, etc. At the same time, as part of the Internet Freedom Meet, the participants had the opportunity to visit the House of Leaves in Tirana, the former headquarters of the Gestapo during the Second World War, but also the Albanian secret service in the period between 1945-1991, located within the Surveillance Museum.

The event was also a meeting place for member organizations of the Digital Rights Network of Southeast Europe, of which the Metamorphosis Foundation is also part. More information about the network can be found at the following link: SEE Digital Rights Network
