Study visit to the Lower Normandy region

Announcement: MEC at Workshop “Improvement of Cooperation and Communication of Interethnic Relations”
MEC project team takes part in the UNDP workshop “Improvement of cooperation and communication of interethnic relations.” The workshop takes place in the MPs Club in Skopje on October 14th and 15th, 2010 within the framework of UN Programme to enhance inter-ethnic dialogue and collaboration.

Lecture on privacy at the Institute of Informatics
On October 13, 2010, the team of the Metamorphosis Foundation held a lecture on the topic of privacy in Macedonia for the students of the Institute of Informatics in Skopje. The lecture took place at the Institute of Informatics at PMF-UKIM under the subject “Professional Ethics” that Katerina Zdravkova PhD. is teaching.

The e-waste issue brought up in Parliament
With synergy between the BEWMAN project and the program for legislative initiatives through cooperation of civil society organizations and the Assembly of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Macedonian MPs were familiarized with the responsibilities and experiences coming from the EU Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), based on which a Law on e-waste is being prepared.

10 public debates were held in 10 cities throughout Macedonia in the period June 9-24, aiming at inciting critical thinking on socially important topics and promoting the blog platform kauza.mk as a free and powerful advocacy tool for changes.

Seminar: “Security and privacy on the internet” in NOVA
Last Friday (June 25, 2010) a seminar was held in the private school NOVA within the framework of the project “Online Privacy Made Easy” on the topic of “Security and privacy on the internet”, attended by 20 participants (teaching and pedagogical staff). The event was also attended by a representative of the Metamorphosis Foundation, and the purpose of the event was to discuss the potential dangers of the internet, methods for their prevention and control, especially within the school.
